Designit is a global strategic design agency. For the past ten years, Designit had gathered its employees from around the world for an annual “inspiration trip”: itrip. The event acted as a creative spark for the coming year’s work and had become a flagship for Designit’s employee recruitment and retention initiatives.
2017’s itrip was more important than ever. After the company’s recent acquisition, dramatic growth, and new business strategy, itrip17 was a chance to re-establish a sense of community and a shared vision for the year ahead.
I worked closely with an art director to create a bold but playful identity that celebrates who we are and what we do together: “We are here.” It’s not a call to action – it’s a promise.
This simple, confident statement unites our 500+ participants from offices around the globe for one event, as one Designit. At the same time, its messaging and language variations celebrate the diversity of our participants and the different skills, ideas, and perspectives they bring to the mix at itrip17 and beyond.
With the identity in place, I worked as a core member of the itrip17 team to bring the event to life. I helped create everything the event needed, from merchandise and signage to internal communications and keynote presentations.
Of course, a big event like itrip doesn’t care what your job title is. We all pitched in any way we could, and I also found myself laying out flyers, calling suppliers, and co-creating our team-building event. Whatever it took to make itrip17 a reality!
With over 500 employees gathered together, itrip17 reignited Designit’s spark and set the direction for the year ahead.
